Are our villas in Candolim or Calangute?

Not necessarily. This page lists our villas across North Goa, and each card above names the village the villa is in. Check the location on the card, then use the travel facts below to judge the drive to the beach.

What are Candolim and Calangute like?

They are two villages on one beach. Goa Tourism describes a firm sand stretch running from Sinquerim, below the 17th-century Fort Aguada, north to Baga, with Candolim and Calangute on it. Candolim is the first beach you reach from Panaji, and Goa Tourism calls it the gateway to Goa's better-known beaches. Parasailing and water skiing are the main draws, and only a few hotels have their own restaurants.

Calangute is bigger and busier. Goa Tourism calls its 7 km of sand the Queen of Beaches, notes that it stays busy in both the peak and the off-season, and lists hotels and guesthouses all the way to Baga. The village has banks, foreign exchange offices, medical facilities, bars and restaurants, and the main road to Anjuna is lined with handicraft showrooms. Baga, at the northern end, is quieter and more isolated than Calangute, by Goa Tourism's account.

How do you get to Candolim and Calangute?

Fly into either airport, or take the train to Thivim. Goa Tourism puts Dabolim about 26 km from Panaji, Sinquerim about 13 km from Panaji and Calangute about 15 km. Mopa is in Pernem taluka on the Goa-Maharashtra border, according to PTI. The Free Press Journal put Mopa about 35 km, or an hour, from Panaji in January 2023, and listed a tentative taxi fare of ₹1,010 from Mopa to Baga. No amplified music outdoors after 10 pm. The state government has allowed music until midnight on set occasions. For a birthday or a reunion, plan the loud part indoors or before 10 pm, and ask the villa owner for the house rules in writing before you pay.

When is the best time to go to Candolim and Calangute?

October to March. Goa Tourism's beach guidance gives those months as the best season, with pleasant weather and calm seas, and calls March to June hot but still fine for swimming. From the end of May the sea turns rough with dangerous undercurrents until the monsoon ends in September. In 2025, IMD recorded the monsoon arriving over Goa on 25 May and withdrawing on 13 October, with North Goa at 100 per cent of its normal June to September rain, as reported by The Goan.

December is the dearest month on both Airbnb tables below. Calangute's prices stay high all year, which matches Goa Tourism's note that it is busy even in the off-season.
