What is Cavelossim like?
Cavelossim is a beach village on the long South Goa coast. Goa Tourism groups Varca, Cavelossim and Mobor as one stretch south of Benaulim and calls them much cleaner and quieter than Goa's more famous beaches.
The stretch is known for beach resorts. Goa Tourism notes exclusive luxury resorts on the sand, with budget and economy stays set back from the beach. Shacks along the beach serve Goan food and seafood at reasonable prices, and there are several places to eat near the Dona Sylvia resort. Cycles and scooters can be hired for getting around.
How do you get to Cavelossim?
Fly into Dabolim and take the train to Madgaon. Goa Tourism puts the Varca, Cavelossim and Mobor beaches 41 to 48 km from Dabolim by taxi, and Cavelossim village 18 km from Margao, with buses and autos easy to find.
Mopa, the newer airport, is in Pernem taluka on the Goa-Maharashtra border, about 50 km from Dabolim, according to a PTI report. The Free Press Journal put Mopa about 100 km, or two and a half hours, from South Goa in January 2023. Occasionally, and the eggs are moved south for safety. The Goan reported in December 2024 that turtle eggs found at Baina, Varca, Benaulim, Mobor and Talpona are taken to the Forest Department's nursery at Galgibaga in Canacona. If you see a turtle on the beach, Gomantak Times advises no bright lights, no photos and no touching the turtle or its eggs. The Forest Department marks protected nesting sites with signboards, and visitors should follow them.

October to March. Goa Tourism gives those months as the season for the South Goa beaches, with pleasant weather and calm seas, and calls March to June very hot but still good for swimming.
